Hoang Thuc Hao works where social need, local culture, and ecological responsibility meet.
Hoang Thuc Hao is the first Vietnamese architect to win the 2016 SIA-GETZ Award for Outstanding Architect in Asia.
He also received two major UIA triennial prizes: the Vassilis Sgoutas Prize 2017 and the Robert Matthew Prize 2023.
UIA recognized his work with rural areas, poor communities, cultural continuity, and sustainable humane environments.
Hoang Thuc Hao and colleagues established 1+1>2 Architects in 2003.
The studio motto is architecture committed to people, ecological diversity, and cultural diversity.
Its work spans community houses, schools, houses for disadvantaged groups, villages, and urban projects seeking humane cultural continuity.
